Lead Artists:

Fer is led by Jen and David Logan and includes a variety of other collaborating artists, research and development experts, academics, social workers and theologians.

Jen is a theology writer, speaker and conceptual artist. Jen studied Theology and the Arts at King's College London and the London School of Theology.  David is a music writer and producer. Their work is hugely informed by their extensive experience working in and directing frontline social services and charities. They live and work in London.

We are based in London but from time to time we write, speak and teach for other people’s events across Europe, incl. University of Leuven, Belgium; One School for Artists, Ålesund, Norway and The Scribe Course, Germany. Reach us here if you would like to include us in your event.

Ambassadors

Rev. Professor Ben Quash came to Kings’ College London as its first professor of Christianity and the Arts in 2007. Prior to that he was a fellow of Fitzwilliam College and then of Peterhouse Cambridge, and lecturer in the Faculty of Divinity in the University of Cambridge. He is fascinated by how the arts can renew people’s engagement with the Bible and Christian tradition and is directing a major 7 year project to create an online Visual Commentary on Scripture. He runs an MA in Christianity and the Arts in association with the National Gallery, London and broadcasts frequently on BBC radio. He is a trustee of Arts and Christianity Enquiry and Canon Theologian of both Coventry and Bradford Cathedrals. His publications include Abiding: The Archbishop of Canterbury’s Lent Book 2013 (Bloomsbury, 2012) and Found Theology: History, Imagination and the Holy Spirit (T&T Clark, 2004). He has written catalogue essays for exhibitions at Ben Uri Gallery London, the Indigo Rooms in Somerset House and the Vatican Pavilion at the Venice Biennale 2015.

Dr Sara Schumacher is Director of Education and Tutor and Lecturer in Theology & the Arts at St Mellitus College, London. Sara studied at the Institute for Theology, Imagination and the Arts (University of St Andrews) and completed a doctorate on contemporary church patronage of the visual arts. She lectures widely on a range of subjects and recently published a Grove booklet titled Reimagining the Spiritual Disciplines for a Digital AgeSara has recently been granted a three-year Pedagogy Fellowship through the Yale Centre for Faith and Culture’s Christ and Being Human project. Prior to her academic life, Sara trained and worked as a graphic designer in a variety of professional settings and continues to enjoy all things art-related.

Trustees

Sarah Voss, Sarah has a strong interest in the arts and its ability to transform and impact society. She worked for seven years in the international development sector and has graduated with a Masters in International Conflict from Kings College London. Since 2016, Sarah has been working as the Director of a Christian Creative Youth Center in Norway and co-founded the One School for Artists. Since end of 2019, she has taken a step back to look after her two children. 

Andrew Hart Andrew Hart is the Chief Executive of PAK7, a Christian ministry that seeks to share God’s love with the people of Pakistan through high quality television programming. PAK7 has a strong focus on children, youth and women and uses a wide variety of locally-made programming to engage them.

Prior to joining PAK7 in 2018, Andrew worked with SAT-7 for 8 years, a leading Christian television service for the Middle East & North Africa. In that time, he was part of the Senior Leadership Team and served as Chief Operations Officer with responsibility for Strategy, Research, Broadcasting and IT. At the start of his career Andrew worked for IBM for 13 years in a variety of leadership positions in Marketing, Sales and Business Management

David Hollow is the leader of Jigsaw Consult, a social enterprise based in London that works in the international development and humanitarian sectors. He leads research studies and helps governments, charities and UN agencies to use evidence to improve their effectiveness. David has a PhD from the University of London and his research is focused on the way in which technology can help improve education in Africa. He enjoys exploring the role of the church within society and is a founding member of Community Church Harlesden. Alongside his role at Fer, David is a board member for Refugee Support Network and the African Prisons Project.
